An Evolving Portrait of Anguish
By BRUCE WEBER

THE actress Alice Ripley lives on Long Island, and not long ago she was on her way to work at the Booth Theater on Broadway when she broke her index finger, catching it in a train station door.

“The train had pulled in, and it happened just then,” she recalled over lunch in the theater district recently, a splint on her right hand complicating her use of a soup spoon. “I wanted to scream and cry, but I didn’t. I didn’t want to be embarrassed by screaming out loud, and I decided to hold it all in. And I bent over, and I thought I was going to pass out. Or throw up. And I thought: ‘This is it. Dilemma dilemma...

I just realized that this disc also has the Liza Minnelli concert from that time. I don't know if I want to track Liza (it wasn't the best audio), or whether I want to try to figure out the English titles for a CantoPop concert and its crazy list of songs.

The only snippet that I've cleared from the CantoPop concert - probably incomprehensible to anyone that isn't familiar with the state of 80's and 90's Hong Kong CantoPop. In fact, even I'm not familiar with the scene.

ETA: The audio is clear, but unfortunately I can so so hear the ladies behind me chattering that I want to retroactively reach back and wring their necks for constant talking. :(

ETA2: 12.33, 1.30 in a 2.45 audio... so save and put it away I will.
