A fair number of the f-list is answering this and I don't think I've done anything too crazy that I can't talk about.

So, round 1 was my random mp3 playing, round 2 was random mashups as suggested by other people, and this round 3 is based on songs suggested by other people..

The songs are loaded to the folder here: http://www.sendspace.com/folder/jwu24z

Feel free to suggest songs/artists, and I'll write drabbles based from them. :)

Snicked from [livejournal.com profile] fewthistle and [livejournal.com profile] kitnkabootle:

I've skipped the ten thousand mashups. Yes, there are a LOT of cast recordings here.

Rules:
1. Put your music library on shuffle.
2. For each question, press the next button to get your answer.
3. You must write that song title as the answer to the question, no matter how silly it sounds! Most of the time they seem to work though, strangely enough.
4. Ok, go!
5. When you're done, tag 20 people in this note, and make sure to tag the person who sent you this. (Anyone who feels up to it).

The Revolutionary Costume of Today )
I managed to finish the things I needed to finish writing for this month, and I'd mentioned to [livejournal.com profile] sporkmetender that I was always listening to something relatively inappropriate and why I was semi-glad that these mashups hadn't turned up on my first efforts at drabbling for the last iMeme.

1. Pick a character, pairing, or fandom you like.
2. Turn your music player on and turn it on random.
3. Write a drabble/ficlet related to each song that plays. You only have the length of the song to finish the drabble; you start when the song starts and stop when it's over. No lingering afterwards!
4. Do five of these and post them.

Those were the rules last time.

This time, I've tossed all the mashups I have (and will continue to acquire more and toss those into the folder here. Feel free to download and listen and then pick one (and post a comment) and I'll write a drabble based upon that mashup. I won't bother with my mp3 random because I figure people are more random than the technology. :)

The songs might be odd, but the fic will hopefully made up for it. Some stuff is not-safe-for-work or whatnot. And yes, I do listen to these songs. :)

A meme

Mar. 6th, 2009 03:07 pm
Well, if there's an origin for this meme, it'd be [livejournal.com profile] cereta who I read by proxy, and sometimes directly, and is pretty cool :) And I didn't read (or do) this meme on her LJ, but rather [livejournal.com profile] thelastgoodname, who I read directly, and is also pretty cool. :)

The meme is as follows:

1. Tell me something about yourself. It can be as random as how you take your coffee, and as deep as your fondest desire. Just something about yourself you think I probably don't know.

2. Ask me something. Again, it can be, "so, how do you take your coffee?" to "what is your hope for the future?"
Association Meme: Comment to this post and I will give you 5 subjects/things I associate you with. Then post this in your LJ and elaborate on the subjects given.

[livejournal.com profile] sammysam asked about these five: Sondheim, scaffolding, snow, sushi, and sandwiches.

It's Friday! (random Kermit-inspired flailing ensues) More importantly, there'll be one day on the weekend where I can try to make up about 8-10 hours of lost sleep from the week. :/ Five days of 5.15AM is enough to ensure that the bags under the eyes have garnered their own luggage set. :/

I'm pondering the viability of an iPod Touch to replace the Palm m500 that I currently have.

Tomorrow - dropping off the Muse into the shop so that the light of Engine Repair can be resolved, that plus a general oil change is needed. And a car wash. It's supposed to hit 7c tomorrow, so maybe I can be like a gopher and pop out into a warmer weather day as opposed to be bundled up under layers because the weather has been hovering around the minus double digits (pre-wind chill).

Yes, instead of sleep, I tracked Sunday in the Park with George, Act 2... and looked at this list.

The Big Read reckons that the average adult has only read 6 of the top 100 books they've printed. Well, let's see.
1) Bold the books you have read.
2) Italicize those you intend to read.
3) Underline the books you LOVE.
4) Copy, paste, & repeat.
5) *Starred next to the books you're reading/have read some of.*

Let's see - much of the classics (Shakespeare, Dickens, heaps of Austen and the Bronte sisters) I read in high school. Whether it was for the SF/F classes (Narnia Chronicles), or else, Detective Fiction (Doyle), or Children's Lit (Montgomery, White, Dahl, Milne). The Canadian authors, I've read because... well, gotta support them some how (Atwood, Montgomery (Again!)). There was a term in eighth grade, where my class read a rotation of Steinbeck books (The Pearl, The Red Pony, Of Mice and Men, and Cannery Row) and I fell in love with Steinbeck. Enough at least, that when I was in Salinas Valley, I went by his library just to soak in the ambiance. :)

I did read The Little Prince in French class - dunno if that was routine or not. Watership Down remains one of my favourite books, complete with talking rabbits. :)

I noticed that Thomas Hardy came up several times on the list. I remember being introduced to his work via an abridged audiobook reading of Tess of the D'Urbervilles and being a bit confused as to the storyline which lead me back to the unabridged book. :) I did end up writing an essay about the proletariat structure that Hardy wrote about and its change over from the agriculture economy to the industrial revolution. I think I like Hardy's poetry a bit more than his prose... :)
