[hes]

The year begins red -
red pearls
against pale silk -
seeping into all
the nooks and crannies
that hid the red lines
from the sight of mortal eyes.

Flowing silently to
mix with the cooling
ice water
that surrounds me.

Dissolving into
a pale pinkishness -
a shadow of its
former self.

Mixing amongst the
cold comfort
before disappearing
once more.
