Canon, Spamalot, and Wicked
Aug. 24th, 2006 09:39 amI was at the Canon Theatre last night, taking in the 8.00 performance of Spamalot -- sitting in the back mezzanine (V?) but the sight lines are still acceptable. When it comes time to order Wicked seats which I could do now, I'll either be booking the front mezzanine, or else, middle orchestra as the back mezzanine is just a tad too far to see the smaller expressions.
All in all, Spamalot was a lot of fun - with many many references to other musicals. Prince Herbert did the first four bars of Company's Another Hundred People in his song scene :) Minor show references to Zidane's headbutting incidence, and of course, being that it was Toronto, the various references to same sex relationships, and the question of whether there were any Jews in the house - amusing just the same.
I'll have to go back and listen to the recording that was made - I thought that it was clear, and more importantly, during the last two scenes with the audience singing, I think that the mic-ing was still sufficient. :)
Fetchez la vache! ;)
Next Wednesday is Hobbit night :)
