of peace and refuge
in the torrent
of white noise
that masks
as a bombardment
of snide comments
against the confusion.

Falling,
slipping, sliding,
into a miasma
of unfeelingness --
inured to the litany
of complaints
that form the foundation
of disdain and isolation.
