Hee. The last batch I'll looking at today. There are other prompts that beckon. :D
Four Minutes (Divide & Kreate Remix) - Madonna - for
unfortunateggs, or the original song Four Minutes - Madonna
X. 252 words
The elevators at Elias-Clarke took exactly three minutes and forty-two seconds to go from the main lobby to the Runway executive offices if there were no other floor stops. A scalding hot Starbucks latte stayed that way for precisely four minutes and nine seconds; any time after that, you might as well have called it tepidly warm even if it caused a second degree burn upon contact.
Every morning, there was a virtual steeplechase event featuring the second assistant to Miranda Priestly cradling at least a tray of piping hot lattes (on top of the bags of samples) dashing through early morning Fifth Avenue traffic. The first few times, Andrea Sachs skated on the edge of the last few seconds even as she skittered on the waxed floors of Runway. As time progressed and Andrea learned more tricks in dealing with Miranda, she discovered that she could shave a few seconds off her time by using a simple turn of the elevator key to ignore all other floors and go directly to the Runway floor.
Even more important, she kept a standing order and insulated canister at the Starbucks, complete with a small stack of cups that she could snag in a whirlwind rush through the queue. With no risk of scalding herself while scrambling across the street, the rapid ride on the elevator provided just enough time to pour the latte into the cups meant for Miranda. By the time Miranda arrived at Runway, the faint hint of coffee had already faded away.

XI. 184 words
In the years that followed Andrea's abrupt departure from Runway and Miranda Priestly and the roundabout way that she came back to reveal her relationship with Miranda to her parents, the Sachs' would never come to fully comprehend the whys and wherefores of the Sachs-Priestly household. They mourned the perceived lack of freedom to fulfill her own ambitions (What about journalism? I'm freelancing for the New Yorker, Mom!) and the relinquishment of their own dreams of grandchildren (IVF Mom! Complete with turkey basters! Besides, ready-made grandchildren in Cassidy and Caroline!).
Try as she might, Andrea knew that her happiness would have to be simply be enough for her parents and focused on a love that would last the years. She had made her choice to take a new direction for herself only to find that it had led itself back to Miranda Priestly. There were the times where Miranda made the not-so-idle threat to host the Sachs over a weekend and Andrea would always demur because a house filled with four strong-willed women (and Patricia) was enough without adding her mother into the mix.
My Other Car is a Beatle - DJ Jay-R (L'Trimm vs. Armand Van Helden vs. Beatles vs. Gary Numan)

N.B. I know that the film had a current year Porsche, and the first divorce was several years back. I am taking liberties!
With a position where she had a driver (Roy!) and Lincoln Town Car at her disposal, Andrea often split her travel preferences to the public transit services at night (after delivering the Book) and the Town Car at all other times. Even the occasion to drive the Porsche 911 Carrera had been fraught with danger -- who knew that learning the motions of driving a stick-shift at sixteen did not mean a thing when you struggled to remember whether shifting up or down gear was enough to stall travel along the busy streets of New York City.
Unlike Andy's first boyfriend whose love for his souped up car rivaled his affections for Andy, Miranda never professed any deep attachment for the silver Porsche. Originally intended to be a gift for her husband, even before she'd been able to hand over the keys, he had handed over the papers for separation. So she had kept the car even as she had surrendered the marriage. It wouldn't be until much later after Andrea had taken a second round of lessons on standard driving did she accept Miranda's offer of the car. It would be a new set of memories made from road trips along the Eastern seaboard that Miranda Priestly would forever associate with this car that been the ungifted reminder of her first marriage. She had finally found someone who loved her with as much enthusiasm and joy as they both laughed and sped off on the day.
