No More Tears: Cry-Baby to Close on Broadway June 22

Cry-Baby, the second Broadway musical based on a John Waters film, will play its final performance at the Marquis Theatre June 22, according to box-office personnel.

Directed by Mark Brokaw, Cry-Baby arrived on Broadway following an out-of-town engagement at the La Jolla Playhouse this past fall. A 2008 Tony nominee for Best Musical, Cry-Baby began Broadway previews March 15 and officially opened April 24.

An official closing announcement is expected shortly.

Blake, Cates, Wiley, Mendoza and More Set for City of Light Readings

Two free readings of the new musical City of Light will be presented June 20 at the New Dance Group in Manhattan.

Directed by Holly-Anne Ruggiero, the readings will be presented at 11 AM and 3 PM.

The cast features Richard H. Blake (Legally Blond, Wedding Singer), Allison Spratt (Cry-Baby, Curtains), Kristy Cates (Wicked), Tom Galantich (Dirty Rotten Scoundrels, Into the Woods, Mamma Mia!), Shonn Wiley (No No Nanette, 42nd Street), Melina Kalomas (Les Misérables, La Bohème), George Psomas (South Pacific), Kevin Covert (Spamalot) and Orville Mendoza (Pacific Overtures).
