Wicked's Cates to Make a Splash Nov. 3

Kristy Cates, who has played the role of Elphaba in the New York, Chicago and national touring companies of Wicked, will go it solo at Splash Bar Sept. Nov. 3.

As part of Scott Nevins' Curtain Call series at the popular dance club, Cates will perform a full set of theatre tunes following the weekly "Musical Mondays" video presentations of Broadway performances. Cates' concert is scheduled for 11:30 PM.

Cates Will Portray Cancer Survivor in New Musical Unbeatable Off-Broadway

Wicked's Kristy Cates will star in the forthcoming Off-Broadway musical Unbeatable at New World Stages this fall.

According to the official Unbeatable website, Michael Barnard, artistic director of Arizona's Phoenix Theatre, will direct and choreograph the Off-Broadway production that begins performances Oct. 7 and officially opens Oct. 10.

Blake, Cates, Wiley, Mendoza and More Set for City of Light Readings

Two free readings of the new musical City of Light will be presented June 20 at the New Dance Group in Manhattan.

Directed by Holly-Anne Ruggiero, the readings will be presented at 11 AM and 3 PM.

The cast features Richard H. Blake (Legally Blond, Wedding Singer), Allison Spratt (Cry-Baby, Curtains), Kristy Cates (Wicked), Tom Galantich (Dirty Rotten Scoundrels, Into the Woods, Mamma Mia!), Shonn Wiley (No No Nanette, 42nd Street), Melina Kalomas (Les Misérables, La Bohème), George Psomas (South Pacific), Kevin Covert (Spamalot) and Orville Mendoza (Pacific Overtures).

Skipper, Karel, Cates, Weitzer and More to Star in Hello, Dolly! Benefit

Famed Carol Channing "tribute artist" Richard Skipper will star in a one-night-only benefit performance of Hello, Dolly! at the Paramount Theatre in Asbury Park, NJ.

Directed by Thomas Morrissey, the June 14 performance will feature choreography by Connor Gallagher and musical direction by John Fischer. Show time is 8 PM.

Skipper will star in the title role, which was originated by Channing. He will be joined onstage by Charles Karel (Milk and Honey, Dear World, Zorba) as Horace Vandergelder, Kristy Cates (Wicked, Jerry Springer The Opera) as Irene Malloy, Jim Weitzer (Little Women, Phantom) as Cornelius Hackl, Chris Gunn (Little Women, Jerry Springer The Opera) as Barnaby Tucker and Jenna Coker-Jones (Evil Dead The Musical) as Minnie Fay with Anne Kissel (Ernestina), Jack Hallett (Rudolph), Hernando Umana (Ambrose), Brooke Wallace (Ermengarde) and Gary Mottola (Judge).
