It's a Cinch That the Bum Is Under the Thumb of Some Little Broad

Certain words, in certain contexts, are best left unspoken. In Des McAnuff’s uninspired new revival of “Guys and Dolls” at the Nederlander Theater that word happens to be “chemistry.” It is dropped — with a thud and a shatter — and hovers for the rest of the evening like a neon-lighted reproach.

Y'know, the Monday is going fairly smoothly when I can be cheered by the fact that one of the fandoms being written up for [livejournal.com profile] thelittlebang is the Devil Wears Prada and a few other fandoms that I actually read :)

I'm very grateful that the snow that's hit the East Coast (all the way from Georgia/Alabama south to up the New England areas) has managed to avoid this side of the Great Lakes. I can deal with the bitterly cold (we're in the minus double digits of the Celcius again) by layering on the scarf, gloves and a cap, but the snow means shoveling and I'm not tempted at all for March snow.

The stack of books on the side table grew again this weekend. The trade paperback version of James Lipton's Inside Inside (the Actors Studio), plus a coffee table book of skyline photography, plus three more articles that seem to join the pile of things that I still (really!) to read.
Academy Award Winner Duke to Join Cast of San Fran's Wicked

Patty Duke, who won an Academy Award for her performance as Helen Keller in the 1962 film "The Miracle Worker," will step into the role of Madame Morrible in the San Francisco production of Wicked, which is currently playing the Orpheum Theatre.

Duke will succeed Carol Kane, who concludes her limited engagement March 22. Duke's first performance is scheduled for March 24.
