Cast Recording of Sondheim's Road Show to Arrive in Stores June 30

Nonesuch Records and PS Classics will release the much-anticipated cast recording of the Stephen Sondheim-John Weidman musical Road Show on June 30.

PS Classics co-founder Tommy Krasker produced the 17-track cast recording, which features the entire original Off-Broadway company from the 2008 Public Theater world premiere. The Road Show recording will include complete lyrics and production photos.

PS Classics and Nonesuch to Record Sondheim's Road Show Feb. 23

The cast of the recent Public Theater production of Road Show will head into a Manhattan recording studio Feb. 23 to capture the latest musical from Tony and Pulitzer Prize-winning composer Stephen Sondheim.

PS Classics co-founder Tommy Krasker told Playbill.com that Nonesuch Records will jointly produce the single disc. A spring in-store arrival is expected.

Recording of Sondheim's Road Show Aiming for Spring Release

The Public Theater world premiere of the Stephen Sondheim and John Weidman musical Road Show will be preserved on disc by PS Classics co-founder Tommy Krasker.

Krasker, who has produced ten Sondheim cast albums – including the Grammy-nominated revival recordings of Assassins, Sweeney Todd and Company – told Playbill.com that he will produce the recording of the Sondheim musical that explores the life of the eccentric Mizner brothers.

Singing a Song of Sondheim, Again

SHOULD Stephen Sondheim ever decide to set a musical in a Mail Boxes Etc. store (a barbershop he’s done already), Alexander Gemignani could bring some firsthand experience to the production.

Mr. Gemignani, who stars in “Road Show,” the Sondheim offering that opened at the Public Theater on Nov. 18, worked for nine years at a branch of that very company near his childhood home in Tenafly, N.J. But the job, which Mr. Gemignani, 29, pursued — very happily, he would add — during high school vacations, college breaks and his early years struggling to make it as an actor and singer, did nothing to prepare him for his role in “Road Show.”

Brothers in Flimflammery on a Continental Sojourn

It’s raining greenbacks in “Road Show,” the latest version of Stephen Sondheim and John Weidman’s long-aborning, ever-evolving and eternally slender musical about curdled American dreams, which opened on Tuesday night at the Public Theater. Throughout this short and sardonic production, directed by John Doyle and starring the marvelous team of Michael Cerveris and Alexander Gemignani, fistfuls of dollars are flung into the air with such enthusiastic frequency that by evening’s end they carpet the stage floor.

Sondheim & Weidman's Bounce Is Now Called Road Show; Cast Announced

Road Show is the new title of Stephen Sondheim and John Weidman's new musical — once known as Bounce — The Public Theater announced Aug. 12. The fall Off-Broadway production, directed by John Doyle, will star Michael Cerveris and Alexander Gemignani as the Mizner brothers.

Doyle, who won a Best Direction Tony for the recent revival of Sondheim's Sweeney Todd and also directed the recent Company and A Catered Affair on Broadway, will also provide scenic design for the newly revised musical.
