So, my little box from Kritzerland came yesterday... and there was squeeing and flailing and well actually whatever happened, happened silently, and any Snoopy-esque dances of joy, were... well, unseen and only in my head.

It was much Sondheim all the time. :) The limited (3000 disc?) Evening Primrose recording, I'd heard much of it with the Frogs/Evening Primrose recording.

Anyhow - Charmaine Carr sings Ella on Evening Primrose.

The other Sondheim was Sondheim's 75th Birthday Benefit recording out in San Francisco, which again, the songs have been done before (I think only one track is world premiered) :)

Finally, Dame Julie Andrews sings Sondheim in Putting It Together. Most amusing was her rendition of Getting Married Today. Although, entirely out of context of Company, it's still fun to hear how people have interpreted Sondheim's lyrics. :)

I'm simply going going to xpost these recordings across various places because it's Sondheim, hence I share :D

Xanadu Stars Butler, Jackson, Roberts, Hoffman and Testa Renew Contracts Through January 2009

Xanadu producers Robert Ahrens, Tara Smith, Brian Swibel, Cari Smulyan and Dale Smith announced April 30 that the stars of their new musical have all renewed their contracts through January 2009.

Kerry Butler (Kira), Cheyenne Jackson (Sonny), Tony Roberts (Danny), Jackie Hoffman (Caliope) and Mary Testa (Melpomene) have signed on through Jan. 25, 2009. Xanadu, based on the film of the same name, plays the Helen Hayes Theatre.

Esparza, Kassebaum, White, Mann and More Take a Leap of Faith in Musical Workshop

A starry company is currently taking part in a workshop of the new Broadway-bound musical Leap of Faith, which will lead to two by-invitation-only performances in Manhattan May 15 and 16.

Playbill.com has learned that the cast of the workshop includes Raul Esparza (Jonas Nightengale), Elizabeth Stanley (Marva McGowan), Ian Brininstool (Boyd McGowan), Kendra Kassebaum (Sam), Lillias White (Ida Mae Sturdevant), Terrence Mann (Sheriff Will Braverman) and Brandon Victor Dixon (Ricky Sturdevant).

Rockwell and Hart to Join Broadway's Legally Blonde Cast

Broadway's Legally Blonde will welcome two new cast members at the Palace Theatre in May.

Kate Rockwell — of "Grease: You're the One That I Want" fame — Rent's Nicolette Hart are set to join the company as Margot and Brooke Wyndham, respectively.

Hart will begin performances May 7. Legally Blonde cast member Nikki Snelson, who originally portrayed Brooke Wyndham, has left the production to star as Cassie in the national tour of A Chorus Line. Rockwell, who succeeds Haven Burton in the role of sorority sister Margot, begins performances May 14.
